The short version
Spend Check is designed so your financial data stays yours. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal or financial data. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no tracking.
What stays on your device
Everything you enter is stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone:
- Your name, chosen currency, and starting balance
- Transactions, categories, notes, and dates
- Recurring rules, budgets, and savings goals
- Categories you create
- Receipt photos you scan
We never see this information. It is not uploaded to a server operated by us; we do not operate one.
Optional iCloud backup
If you enable iCloud Backup, a copy of your wallet file is stored in your private iCloud container under your Apple Account. Apple transmits and stores it under Apple’s privacy policy, and it is not accessible to us.
You can turn backup off in Spend Check or remove the app’s iCloud data through iOS Settings.
Optional Sign in with Apple
If you choose to sign in, the app stores the anonymous identifier Apple provides, plus the name and email address you choose to share, on your device only. This associates your wallet with your Apple Account for backup purposes.
If you use Hide My Email, we never see your real address. Signing out removes this information from the device.
Exchange rates
When a subscription uses a different currency from your wallet, Spend Check requests a published exchange rate from Frankfurter, which serves European Central Bank reference rates. The request includes only two currency codes, such as USD and GBP. It contains no personal data, amounts, or identifiers.
Camera and photos
Receipt scanning uses your camera. Images are processed on your device using Apple’s on-device text recognition and saved in the app’s private storage. They are never uploaded by Spend Check.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, notifications are scheduled locally by your device. No push-notification server is involved.
Optional tips
Tips are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details—only Apple’s confirmation that a purchase completed. Tips are optional and unlock nothing; every feature remains free.
Deleting your data
- On your device: use Profile → Erase Wallet.
- From iCloud: turn off iCloud Backup or delete Spend Check’s iCloud data in iOS Settings.
- Everything local: deleting the app removes its local data.
Spend Check is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.
